It is no secret that the nine Wireless Giant BlackBerry Retail stores in the US have not been doing well recently. According to a likely but unconfirmed source at the Cantech Letter RIM is rumored to be closing their US stores. They highlight how this is in contrast to developing countries like the UAE, EMEA, Indonesia, and other areas where RIM is opening multiple new stores. There really is not much substance to this rumor but I have a hunch that RIM would be better served during the launch of BlackBerry 10 with stronger advertising and traveling experience centers at airports and other locations instead of branded stores.

has closed. We are not prepared to comment on rumours or speculation
about other BlackBerry branded retail locations in the US. We’re
constantly studying the consumer market and how customers make
purchases. Consumers still have many options to buy BlackBerry
products from over 20,000 retail locations in the US and online at

Whilst this would not really affect us, (you can still order from xmad), its still interesting to see how this will play out eventually.
