BlackBerry has announced that BBM for Android Gingerbread devices is now ready and will be available starting today. BBM for Android were previously for devices running Ice Cream Sandwich and above only.

This means that there will be more Android users who will be able to install BBM on their phone. It is estimated 20% of all Android devices are still running Gingerbread, so it is a pretty sizeable expansion to get BBM onto more devices.

On your Gingerbread device, you can search for BBM in the Google Play Store, or simply visit www.bbm.com.
