Review + Giveaway: Skins From Wrappz!

Rating: ★★★★☆

Today, I am happy to showcase to you these marvelous skins from wrappz. Yes, last year we introduced to you the guys from Gelaskins, with an exclusive contest to design and win amazing prizes, together with BlackBerry. Today, Wrappz, a company from UK is here to showcase to us theirs.

GelaSkins is low-profile, laminated vinyl decals (skins) designed to protect and personalize portable electronic devices. Made from a patented 3M material, GelaSkins provide protection against scratches and everyday wear-and-tear. The adhesive is re-positionable, and will not leave any residue upon removal. Air channels in the material aid in applying skins to any device by allowing air bubbles to smooth out easily.

On the other hand, Wrappz Phone Skins premium vinyl skins are removable adhesive skins for protecting and customizing your Phones, Laptops, Kindles, iPods, iPads, Games Consoles & much more. Made from Patented 3M material, Wrappz is easy to apply with no residue left behind when removed. The adhesive allows you to reposition the skin so you can easily get a perfect fit. It defends your device with a durable anti-scratch, anti-UV coating.

In short, both companies offer very similar services, creating either custom made skins or pre-designed skins for your devices. Prices wise, Gelaskins costs about $25 whilst wrappz will cost about $24. As such, prices again are similar.

As of now, however, wrappz, being based in the UK, will have your designs delivered to you faster than that of Gelaskin, which in based in Ontario. Royal Mail typically takes 7 days whilst USPS might take up to 20 working days to deliver.

Now, ending with the technical comparison, lets double down to the product itself!

Similar to Gelaskins, it is a stick on and apply kind of skin. Some of you may compare this to having stickers. Whilst, yes this skin can be removed and reapplied, I don’t recommend doing it too often since this is ultimately still a “dry” apply skin.

The adhesive base here is all too familiar – larger brands like Phantomskinz (chromatics range), Gelaskin all use this type of adhesive, so this should fair pretty well in the long run.

Application is just so simple. Find the right middle spot, paste it down and apply pressure!

In this review for the BlackBerry Z10, it came with additional portions which I do not recommend using. These additional portions are for bezels on the top and the bottom – Not the most ideal for this model, especially when it comes to gestures!

All in all, this is a pretty reasonable product, especially considering the fast turn around times and quality of the workmanship. However, for the BlackBerry Z10, it is not without its flaws:

Spotted the additional white line? I am not too sure if this was a manufacturing defect or just my design flaw, considering that I do not have an issue on the other side of it.

Otherwise, this is perfect! As of now, only the BlackBerry legacy devices as well as BlackBerry Z10/Q10 are supported though.
