So here’s the bomb tonight. BlackBerry has just announced that the BlackBerry PlayBook is a dead device. Which means, their original promise of BlackBerry 10 on this device is now broken.

Thorstein says that they had to make a tough decision to kill off the device, although they will continue to support it on the current platform and hardware.

Disappointing news. Broken promises from them? Could we have misunderstood something here and that we can expect a BlackBerry 10 OS for Playbook in a short while?

Now, looking back at the Q1 2014 highlights, BlackBerry shipped 100,000 PlayBooks for the quarter. This could have potentially been due to its hugely slashed price points and the anticipation of BlackBerry 10 to be available on the tablet.
