The Case-Mate Tough Series for BlackBerry z10 is the first line of products we have seen for BlackBerry Z10 that is built targeted as a rugged case. This comes before otterbox’s defender case is available for us here. Unlike Otterbox’s proposed protection (of 3-4 piece), this protects with just 2 pieces.

The first piece, acts like a thin little bumper whilst the second piece is the main body, covering the back. Hence, the first piece seems to act as the “lock” to the second piece, “locking” them into place.

The back plate, as you can see, is like the BlackBerry z10 battery cover, the dotted kind of cover. This, like the original battery door, adds additional grip to the hold of the device. With the case built with rubber/silicon, together with the rough surface, the Case-Mate Tough Case will make it not only feel steady, but also well protected in your hands.

The Case-Mate Tough series covers the whole device, minus necessary holes such as the speaker port and the charging and HDMI port. This is in contrast to the minimal coverage, provided by the Case-Mate Barely There case.

Overall, it doesn’t feel as thick as it is, yet, it provides a rather substantial coverage protection for the device. It does not add additional features to the device, neither does it hamper any of its operations. But for that slight bulk and an crisp $50, this case could be well worth to look at.
