Since the DTEK series was released, namely DTEK50 and DTEK60 to date, these 2 devices have been manufactured by a new manufacturer (relatively for BlackBerry devices), TCL. Now, BlackBerry and TCL have now officially announced they have entered a long-term licensing agreement wherein BlackBerry will license its security software and service suite, as well as related brand assets to TCL Communication who will design, manufacture, sell and provide customer support for BlackBerry-branded mobile devices. In addition, TCL will manage all sales and distribution and serve as a global distributor of new BlackBerry-branded mobile devices along with dedicated sales teams. What happens to Ingramm Micro for now, remains to be seen.
This, being a global deal, will cover countries around the world, including Singapore though closer to home, Indonesia is not included in the agreement.
