Samsung and The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (CBTL) in Singapore have teamed up with a reward system for their customers. Samsung will place the Samsung TecTiles, which is the Near Field Communications (NFC) stickers, in all 51 outlets of The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in Singapore. This is a first business implementation of TecTiles in Southeast Asia and CBTL customers get to enjoy a free drink upsize from 8 February to 7 March 2013. How will this relate to us though?
Yes, we know that most of the new OS 7 devices come equipped with NFC and the BlackBerry z10 will also be equipped as such. So will we get to enjoy this promotion? Maybe not!
For this promotion, customers simply need to tap their NFC-enabled Samsung GALAXY SIII or GALAXY Note II LTE to a Samsung TecTiles at the CBTL store. After that, customers only need to ‘Like’ the CBTL Facebook page for an instant drink up-size redemption.
However, as pointed out previously, not all NFC tags will work due to licensing issues on the formatting.
If you are savvy enough, you can force the nfc to work with the chips, that is not an issue. In fact, with BlackBerry 10, we might even have a solution for this – android apps. What do you think?
