Earlier this month we hosted this exclusive competition, BlackBerry’s What Is Your NS Story Contest, for National Service (NS) men. Prizes included 2 Brand new BlackBerry Curve 9360 in black and white (non-camera+camera). So here we have our very first winner!Here we have Elton, and here is his story:

Hi all, I am Elton, and I am currently serving National service(NS). What I am about to share is how a awesome BlackBerry phone have helped me during my recruit day. It was a day after my field camp where everyone of us were having good mood due to the end of the harsh field camp. It was not easy, trekking through forest, digging shell scrape and the worst of all, not being able to hear her voice. It was weird, considering I haven’t been in love for quite a long time and here I am thinking of a girl that I have just met over the weekend and moreover the girl is my father’s friend daughter. This is impossible to me that how could it be possible for me to miss someone that badly to the point whereby i would rather dig one more shell scrape if i could just talk to her again. Ha? I must be crazy.

And apparently, I am. I am not being the usual self that I am, not cracking jokes with my platoon mates, not smoking with my buddies and just stoning there. I thought it’s just a puppy love feeling and I could handle it just fine, but I couldn’t. Well, as I share with my bunk mates about my trouble, some of them ask me why couldn’t I just text/call her. Well, I did have her number which was store in my Google contacts and my nokia 3300 would not be able to access it. Just then when I thought all hope were lost, ta da! my friend lent me his BlackBerry 9780 to access to Google contact. Thank god! After half an hour of struggling, I was able to find her number 🙂

Well, I pick up my courage, texted her and told her everything I have wanted to tell her for the past few days.

Well, it was a shock to her at first but she give me a chance to bring her out on the weekend. And things go on from there and she is my girlfriend now. Perhaps people feel that I could just get her number using my computer during the weekend and it would yield the same result, perhaps. I would never know what the ending would be if my friend didn’t lend me his BlackBerry back then. What I did know now is that thanks to it, I got together with my true love. Thank you blackberry and of course my dear friend Yee Wee 🙂
