BlackBerry 10 Specifications That We Know

With BBJam World Tour Singapore round the corner and now that we know the “N” and “L” series for BlackBerry 10, what else is there that we do not know? First announced and teased to us at the BlackBerry 10 Jam earlier, in Florida, this is the next generation of devices that RIM is betting on for a make or break. They have to do this right, and now that it is delayed till next year, is it any good?

So now, many of you are probably wondering what the BlackBerry N-series is going to look like. From what we have been hearing, it is going to be similar in size as the BlackBerry Bold 9790. However, the BlackBerry N-series will lack one of the features of a modern BlackBerry: The trackpad.

Apparently, RIM has found a solution to combine the touch nature of the BlackBerry 10 operating system with a physical keyboard. The solution RIM has found is to “augment the QWERTY keyboard with a streamlined touch version of extended keyboard commands.”

The swipe gestures that we have been enjoying on the BlackBerry PlayBook will also be packed into this 720×720 square OLED screen. So, just imagine how you’ll be able to multi-task and murder some email/messaging with that amazing physical keyboard BlackBerry purists know and love.

Also, coming with a OLED screen, it can create a powerful illusion of screen and hardware blending. By using pure black wherever possible, it helps to optimize power consumption, prevent Burn-in, and as an aesthetic effect of actual black (i.e. no backlight). When there is no visual distinction between the bezel and the screen, a screen can use smaller margins. Selected core components, such as the Action Bar, will also be adapted to impression of a unified surface through a full black background.

So, essentially, its back to all about battery optimization. No word, however, on the battery capacity yet, and I do hope they don’t flop it like the Bold 9900’s J-M1 battery.

Not forgetting as well, is the fact that the screen resolution is way much higher than the retina displays.

So what do you guys think?
