Back in April, we leaked the information that the BlackBerry Curve 9360 will be out on sale in May. It came. Now RIM has officially announced and launched it in Singapore.
In this instance, the marketing campaign is in the right direction; it is targeted at National Service men.
The camera-less BlackBerry Curve 9360 is now available in Singapore and Research In Motion seems to be targeting a market with a well-known need for such a device, National Service (NS) men. The Singapore ad features the caption “National Service doesn’t mean no social life”, highlighting that users are able to take their social life, the Internet and their favorite games where ever they are, even into National Service.
The press release showcase the build of the BlackBerry Curve smartphone as “ergonomically designed with a comfortable and iconic keyboard for fast, accurate typing and an optical trackpad for easy, one-handed navigation”, sounds perfect for the men tasked with the safety of the nation.
The camera-less BlackBerry Curve runs on the BlackBerry 7 operating system with the latest release of BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) pre-loaded. To better facilitate connectivity, the updated Social Feeds (2.0) app has been extended to capture updates from media and favorites all in one consolidated view. Not forgetting Facebook, the new app for BlackBerry Smartphones introduces features like Facebook Chat and BBM integration to make it easier for users to connect with their friends in real time with push notifications.
Hopefully this new release will be a hit with NS men by allowing them to singlehandedly stay in touch with their friend and loved ones, while serving their country.
