With all the news about Singtel and Starhub reducing their data bundles, its time to see how we have been surviving with 500mb of data consumption a month. Insane for a smartphone, even for a heavy user? Not at all! This week’s news of Singtel and Starhub restructuring smartphone price plans might come as concern to power-users who like to consume lots of multimedia, avidly browse the web and share content through social channels. For example, Singtel’s $39.90 Flexi Lite plan now comes with 2GB of data, down from 12GB previously – if a user consumes 12GB, they will expect to fork out an extra $53.50.
The good news for BlackBerry users is that their smartphones are a lot more efficient in sending and receiving data. Consuming the same content on a BlackBerry smartphone is about x4 more efficient compared to other mobile devices available in Singapore. This is DataSmart technology. Of course, only BlackBerry devices with BlackBerry Services get to enjoy this!
A study conducted by independent research organisation Rysavy showed that BlackBerry smartphones uses:
· 75% less data for emails….or gives BlackBerry customers up to 4x more email.
· 50% less data for web browsing….or gives BlackBerry customers up to 2x more browsing or social networking.
So use your device with confidence!
A normal usage, even for the heaviest users is usually between 500mb-900mb. This of course, EXCLUDES those who tether or turn to wifi hotspot which of course, isn’t included under the BlackBerry Services.
