As a BlackBerry fan, its amazing to see how these devices are created. The latest interview by Inside BlackBerry is with Ryan who is a a Hardware Engineering Technician in the Hardware Support Lab at RIM. His job is to test BlackBerry devices to ensure they are durable and reliable. The best part of these whole interview is that he is sharing some videos of how they perform some of these tests in the lab!! This is something like those stress testing machines in Ikea stores where they open and close a drawer or “sit” and stand on their chairs million and millions of times.

Check out the videos below but here are some of the tests RIM performs on devices:

• Moisture Ingress test to see where water enters a BlackBerry
• Digital signal tests
• Drop testing – dropping every BlackBerry hundreds of times to make revisions that improve its design. (Its cool how BlackBerrys are actually designed to absorb the impact wave and absorb the shock)
• Bend testing to see what will happen if people sit on their BlackBerrys. (They know who you are!
• Electrostatic discharge test to make sure you don’t shock your BlackBerry dead.
